The general rule is no. There’s a five-year look-back, and so if I transferred lots of assets to my children, I wouldn’t qualify for Medicaid for five years. If I transfer a little bit to my children and don’t have much left, well then I may be disqualified only for a short amount of time, and there are some exceptions to the rule too.
